A native of Boston, flutist Alan Weiss has been a member of the Boston Classical Orchestra since 1987 and is an active flutist in Boston's musical circles. In 1995 he made his European debut with the Romanian State Radio Orchestra. He is former principal flute of the Virginia Symphony, and has collaborated in chamber music with 'cellist Andres Diaz, violinist Roman Totenberg, harpsichordist Mark Kroll and members of the Muir String Quartet.

He has served as the co-principal flutist with the Boston Classical Orchestra. He has performed with the Boston Pops, New Hampshire Symphony, Springfield Symphony, Romanian Radio Orchestra, National Public Television, National Public Radio, Mexico City Philharmonic, the State Symphony of Mexico, and the Iseland National Symphony. He has made concerto appearances with Romanian Radio Orchestra and Virginia Symphony, and was the first American flutist to perform with the George Enescu Philharmonic of Bucharest, Romania. He was part of the faculty at Boston University Tanglewood Institute and Boston University, and Artist-in-residence at the 2000 Schubert International Music Festival and Competition, Ovada, Italy.
