Josep Quer Agusti was born in Vilafant (Girona), Spain in 1943. As an advanced level teacher of violin, slide trombone and double bass, he attained the Top Diploma in double bass with maestro Ferran Sala in 1974. After working in popular and dance music between 1969 and 1977 with the International Spanish “Orquesta Maravella” and touring Europe, he began to work exclusively in the classical field. He was a member of the Euzkadi Symphony Orchestra between 1982 and 1986. In 1987, he joined the Symphony Orchestra of the Grand Theatre of Liceu in Barcelona, where he played until his retirement in 2008. He has appeared as double bass soloist with several symphony and chamber orchestras in Perpignan, France, and with the Empordà Chamber Orchestra. Other solo appearances include the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona, Montpellier Symphony Orchestra and Empordà-Languedoc-Roussillon Symphony Orchestra. Josep has been a frequent guest with the NCO in the double bass section.
